Well really I needed a length check. I hadn't done a length check since December and I have been wearing my hair in protective styles for so long (had it in a bun of some sort for about 4 weeks and did a flexirod set this past week) that I began feeling like my hair wasn't growing. Yeah, I needed to do a length check today.
Sooo....I came home today and washed my hair with my beloved Elasta QP Creme Conditioning Shampoo (SN: I tried using all natural shampoos but they strip the heck out of my hair, I think the sulfate-free options are my best choice). I then DCed with ORS Replenishing Conditioner, put in my Jane Carter Solution Revitalizing Leave In, and then proceeded to blow dry and flat iron.
The top picture is from December and the bottom is from today, March 11. My hair is definitely making progress slowly but surely.
Well....now that I've indulged myself (ha ha), I will probably wear my hair out tomorrow and put it back up on Saturday. I haven't decided yet. My hair probably won't be out longer than 3 days though. I'm starting to see that there is something to this low manipulation/protective style thing after all!
*Gasp*!! I can't believe how much it as come along! I'm about 1 1/2 inch behind you, so I've been following your journey regularly. But I have not gotten this type of progress. Pleasepleaseplease consider posting some of your protective styles. My sides are still a little too short to help neatly tucked up all day.
ReplyDeleteThanks again,

Hey again Sharday,
ReplyDeleteI just noticed from the bottom photo, it looks like you are one of my younger sorors. Pretty girls love 20 pearls!
Life in a Shoe
@ Life in a Shoe First and foremost: Hi soror!! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your comment and for following my blog! I hope it is providing you with with some encouragement as you progress in your hair journey. I have posted my protective styles on my blog. For awhile I did the 'Southern Tease' bun. Then, I found the donut bun and did that for weeks (both of these posts were done in Feb. Click on 'More Bun Stuff' and 'New Protective Style to Add to the List'). From time to time, I may get it cornrowed (did that in January) or do a flexirod set (I did a flexirod set last week...I should have posted pics). I also wear wigs but since it is getting warmer, I will probably not wear them as frequently.
But I will definitely post my protective styles as I do them from now on! :)
I am so glad for you and at the same time so jealous, we started at the same level at the same time and youre hair has grown way more than mine!!!!you have left me behind girl, but way to go!! and keep doing what youre doing it is working.
ReplyDelete^^Thank you! Don't worry, you'll be there before long too! :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful Progress...Girl your hair is growing like weeds..
ReplyDeleteThanks Traycee! I'm amazed that my hair is growing the way it is. I hope it keeps on doing it though!
ReplyDeletePS- Happy Belated Birthday! I hope you enjoyed your day! :)
wow protective styling is the boom :) when you bun your hair do you take it down nightly and moisturize and seal or you just keep it in for a week?? :/
ReplyDeleteIt really depends. Some nights I'm lazy and don't take it down, others I will. Just depends on my mood. When I do take it down (probably around 2 times a week), I will take it down moisturize with ORS Carrot Oil and seal with GVP Silk Remedy
