First Impressions: Kinky Curly Knot Today

I should have titled this post "10th Impression."

I purchased KC Knot Today when I was home to VA at the beginning of August.I was feeling pretty sad because I couldn't purchase a full sized version of Qhemet Biologis AOHC (the store was sold out). So, I go some Kinky Curly products to make myself feel better.

I went to my local Target and purchased Kinky Curly Spiral Spritz ( which I have used previously and adored. It was my staple for flexirod sets. In fact, I purchased it so I could do flexirod sets. However, it is now September and I have yet to do one. Uh...yeah) and decided to try out Kinky Curly Knot Today.

Let's get to the review, shall we?

Can be used as a regular rinse out conditioner for wavy hair or as a leave-in for thicker curlier hair types. An excellent product to use after removing braids and extensions."

I LOVE the product and I have been using it every wash day. It definitely lasts awhile (for me, anyway). I've had it for a month and I'm at half a bottle. This product has a creamy consistency ( which my hair loves, apparently) and has a slightly tropical scent. I can't place what that scent is but it reminds me lounging on a beach in Hawaii. I have been using this product straight out of the bottle ( no dilutions, no super secret mixes or anything like that) as a leave in. It definitely helps with detangling and make my job easier (since the longer my hair gets, the more my strands want to love on one another). However, once my hair is dry....oh em gee. Knot Today leaves my hair super soft!. It also leaves my hair moisturized, which is always a plus in my book.

Bottom Line: Don't let the name fool you. Kinky Curly Knot Today is an excellent leave in/ detangler for us relaxed girls. If your hair craves moisture like my hair craves moisture, this product will be a hit for you. As we transition from summer to autumn, I will use this as my staple leave in since it is glycerin free (hint hint to you all you ladies looking for a product w/ no glycerin in it for winter). I love it so much that I'm contemplating ordering a bigger size online.

  2. Girl, I usually co-sign on products that you like but I can't on this one! IDK, it did help with detangling during stretches, but it did NOTHING for me in terms of adding moisture. I think my hair NEEDS glycerin in order to stay moist and soft while airdrying. I tried it alone and in the Kimmy-tube leave in concoction and my hair seemed a bit dry each and every time. I am glad it works for you though (if I had known, I would have sent you mine instead of throwing it away).

On a side note, I ordered the qhemet moisturizer and IT-IS-AMAZING! Thank you for the heads up on this stuff!

  3. @Simply Into My HAIR Thanks! I'm glad my posts make you laugh :)

@Age in ATL Aww man. I think the difference is that my hair can go either way with glycerin. It's great if a product has it but if it doesn't, my hair is ok.

I'm so glad you like the qhemet moisturizer!! That stuff is definitely awesome! I'm kind of upset though. Not only could I not get the full size when I went home but qhemet biologics recently had a sale and were sold out within an hour of the sale starting! Sigh. I hope I can purchase a full size soon b/c I'm almost out of my sample size.

  4. I love how thorough your reviews are. I'm one of those looking for a glycerin-free moisturizer for winter. Only thing holding me back from purchasing is the high price. How does this compare to S-curl?

  5. @My Healthy Hair Journey Sorry it has taken me forever to back to you! So, I've never tried S-Curl. The closest thing(s) I have used are Carefree Curl and Hawaiian Silky 14 in 1. My hair was cool with those two things but I wasn't really floored by them. KCKT, however, makes my hair feel really good and moisturized (especially since I'm wigging it up for the Fall). I know the high price can suck and it sucks even more that you can't get a sample size. I hope you give it a shot! :)
