First Impressions: Salerm 21 Leave In Conditioner

Happy Tuesday lovelies!!

I know it has been forever and a day (and then some!) since I've last posted anything! I have to admit, I've been hitting the gym pretty hard lately and that has made me some kind of lazy with my hair. I mean, yeah I'll do it...but it's not gonna be anything intricate. I just need something quick and easy and won't get in my way when I'm working up a sweat.

A few weeks ago, I got a bottle of Salerm 21 to try. I've been wanting to try this product for years but never got around to purchasing it. I have heard so many raves about this product, I figured that it couldn't hurt to give it a whirl.

Price: Varies. Depending on the site, it may cost you between $9-$15 dollars for a 6.9 oz bottle. On amazon.com, it is $12.80.

Ingredients: AQUA (WATER), PROPYLENE GLYCOL, CETYL ALCOHOL, GLYCERIN, CETRIMONIUM CHLORIDE, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, SERICA (SILK), PANTHENOL, PHOSPHOLIPIDS, LINOLEAMIDOPROPYLP PG-DOMONIUM CHLORIDE PHOSPHATE, ACRYLATES/C-10-30 ALKYL ACRYLATES CROSSPOLYMER, CHONDRUS CRISPUS (CARRAGEENAN), TRIETHANOLAMINE, EDTA, PHENOXYETHANOL, METHYLPARABEN, BUTYLPARABENM ETHYLAPARABEN, PROPYLPARABEN, ISOBUTYLPARABEN, PARFUM (FARGRANCE), AMODIMETHICONE, SODIUM METHYLPARABEN, CITRIC ACID, TRIDECETH-12, DISODIUM EDTA, C.I.19140 (FD&C YELLOW N'5).

Claims:"To add gloss and life to damaged, treated, porous or dry hair, protects hair from harmful elements such as sunlight, heat, chlorine, saltwater, etc. The small size proteins, reach the core and repair hair deeply. Get the natural shine of healthy, looked-after hair"

I have to admit that I had high expectations for this product but not just because of the reviews. My hair has responded positively to another Dominican product (Silicon Mix) and I expected my hair to respond well to this one. The product is white in color and has a very thick consistency. In terms of scent, it doesn't smell like anything special...it pretty much has a medicinal scent to it. According to the product website, there are 3 uses for Salerm 21: a leave in, a DC, and a heat protectant. I'm gonna be real with you guys: I've only tried this as a leave in. I will not try it as a heat protectant. All I need is to fry my hair because I'm tryna be fancy. No ma'am. If I tried it as a DC, I don't think it would last me very long. So..that leaves only one option (and that is the angle that I'm reviewing this product from: leave in. I've basically put this product on following a good wash and DC session. On it's own, I have to admit that it leaves my hair moisturized and somewhat soft. However, when I pair this with Qhemet Biologics Honey Hydrating Balm (which I use as to seal), my hair is soft like butter! And when I say butter..I mean buttah!! I've been on an air drying kick lately (read: I'm to lazy to break out the blow dryer) and w/ this product, my hair isn't poofy, frizzy, or any other adjective you associate with air drying. My hair is smooth and soft! I love it...as a leave in (just had to remind yall).

All in all, I have to say that this makes for a good leave in. And for those of yall in EbonyCPrincess's rollersetting challenge, I have heard glowing reviews of Salerm 21 in making a super awesome rollerset (hint, hint. Nudge nudge). Pair Salerm 21 up with your favorite seal and you'll love the results!

  1. Thank you for this review. I currently use Lacio, Lacio for my rollersets. I think I will try this one next.

  2. I really like the Salerm 21 for rollersets. I've gotten even better results when I "Kimmaytube" this leave-in with oil and aloe vera juice!

    1. ^^There you go yall...confirmation that Salerm 21 is awesome for rollersets!!

I agree though. Salerm 21 works way better in conjunction with something else. It's good alone but way better with something else!

  3. Interesting post. I just used this product for the first time last week. I used it with a curlformers set. I didn't get blown away as it is too early to tell, but I do like it so far. I noticed that my set was smoother and shinier. I got lots of compliment on the health of my hair this week, of course that could be a coincidence. All in all my hair was sleeker with this leave in.
