What a Difference 3 Years Makes!

This post right here is a little snippet.

The other day it dawned on me that I have been growing out my hair for 3 years!! My hair journey has been an amazing one to say the least. I have learned so much about my hair and how to care for it, I will never be dependent on a stylist again!

Aside from that, I absolutely love documenting my journey for my blog readers! As corny as it may sound, I absolutely love it when my journey can encourage others to grow their hair out to amazing lengths and show them that having long hair isn't something beyond their grasp. What can I say? It gives me warm fuzzies on the inside lol. I love giving product recommendations and just sharing what I know about the hair care game. I also feel like their is so much to gain from documenting my pitfalls, too. As we all know, the hair care journey is never an easy one.

Anyway, without further ado, I just wanted to post of pic of where I started in January 2009. I had hacked all my hair off into a Rihanna-esque cut which I loved. I was really in awe that it managed to look right since I didn't shave the back of my hair ( I just had it cut really, really short.) I then want to end with where my hair is now. It has taken 3 years but I went from a short cut to BSL ( at least I think it's BSL....I can't call it lol). Either way, this is the longest my hair has been in my life. Although I'm constantly going back and forth with the idea of growing my hair to WL, I can say that I absolutely love where my hair is now. Let this be a source of encouragement for all of you guys. My hair has not grown overnight (although it seems like it has). With some patience, and an awesome regimen, your hair will flourish! Have faith!

  3. WOW - love it! Thanks for sharing your journey. I just marked my one year and feel like I made NO progress, so I hope this is in fact possible for me before I turn 50 (seems like it's going to take forever to see some real length).

Can't wait to see you at WL if you decide to grow that long!

    1. You have probably made more progress than you realize! Sometimes this hair journey is like washing grass grow. We are in our hair so much that we can't see how much length we have retained. You WILL get there! Have faith and stick with it! :)

  6. Sharday,

You have no idea how incredibly encouraging you have been for me personally. It's sounds silly, because it's only hair, but then it's not only hair. I found your site, the day Traycee mentioned you, a month before I had to shave (and I do mean SHAVE) my hair off, due to major stress hairloss. Losing all of your hair can make a bad situation feel that much worse --- and I'm an AKA, I'm supposed to be cute by definition (LOL)!

Anyway, I've been chasing your growth ever since. And all of your style tutorials have given me good ideas to look (and feel)cute at every length as it has grown back. I just hit APL, not full APL, but I feel like you and ECP have been my personal coaches through the whole thing. it's only hair, but if you can make a person feel better about themselves, it's a whole lot more.

    Best,
    Life in a Shoe

    1. Awww! This really made my day! I'm glad that I can be such an inspiration/coach/encouragement. Your comment is really what I intended my blog to be! There are very few blogs that address hair care from the shortest of short and that can be very discouraging. You have no idea what to do and no one can really tell you b/c they've been SL all their life (or whatever starting length they throw out lol).

Seriously though, thank you so much for your comment! :)
