Weave Checks Can Happen at Any Length

I admit. My hair isn't the longest. Not by a long shot. The longest length is grazing SL. My hair is thick though. Super duper thick. I love how thick my hair is. For me, it's a sign that it's healthy and happy.

But that is besides the point.

As I was sitting in the shop waiting to get my hair braided, the braiders (and the other customer in there) were commenting on how pretty my hair is and how full it is. I politely said thank you and thought that was the end of that. Then one of the braiders asked, "is that all yours? do you use extensions?" I was floored. My hair is nowhere near the length that would warrant a "weave check." I then told her "no, this is all my hair."

I just this is all just a testament to how well I have been taking care of my hair as well as a source of encouragement to you. If you do what you are supposed to do, your hair will show the fruits of your labor. It may not feel that your hair is growing or that it's making no progress but rest assured that it is...an people do notice. I just wanted to share this story with you because it just tickled me.

  1. I hope you weren't offended by the weave comment. Alot of people get so sensitive about the weave check question. It's just a testament of how healthy your hair probably looks.

I like the fact, that unlike a lot of hair bloggers, you actually DO something to your hair, stylewise I mean. (What's the point of growing all that fabulous hair if you don't style it?)

Loving the photos. Keep up the good work!

  2. Thanks Katrina!

I wasn't really offended by the weave comment, just a little surprised. A lot of girls who get weave checked have hair way longer than mine and I just wasn't expecting it. Like you said, I just take it as a testament of how healthy my hair is.

I am so glad you are enjoying the blog! I tend to do different styles b/c I get bored with my hair easily. It's just not in me to do one style for months on end--that's just me though :)

    Thanks for the comment girl!
