Early October Rambling...

Happy Tuesday lovelies!

I know it has been awhile since I have last posted. Honestly, I haven't really had much to talk about. I'm not really trying any new products because i'm on a mission to use up the products I have and I'm not doing much to my hair since I've been wigging it up.

So what do I talk about!?

I figure that now is a good a time as any to post my hair goals for the month. I usually have hair goals every month but I don't post them because the seem so mundane. However, I think I'm going to start so that you guys can get an idea of how I view my hair journey as well as the things I struggle with.

All right, here we go:

1) Keep up with my personal Autumn wig challenge. This can be hard at times because it is so easy to get bored. I know that in the long run, this will be beneficial for my hair but sometimes I want to jazz it up a bit.

2) Be consistent with the Vitamin B complex pills. I don't like taking pills and they are such a pain to remember to take.

3) Find a way to decrease this massive shedding. I shed like a freaking dog. And I don't like it.

That's it. Really October is my month to fight against the boredom. What are your goals for the month. How are you progressing in meeting those goals?

  1. Girl, I feel you on the shedding. I feel as though I can make my own wig out of the hair I have been shedding lately. If you find a way to slow it down, let us know!

My 3 hair goals for the month:
    1. Keep heat out of my hair. No more heat passes for the month.
    2. Continue with the protective style challenge on KISS (bunning/protective styling during the week and wearing it out on the weekends). This method has done wonders for my retention.
    3. Continue on with my stretch. Trying to make it until Thanksgiving. Currently 9 weeks.

    Good luck with your goals!

  2. My hair sheds a lot also, especially in the top crown area

    My goals for October
    1. Make time to DC (school is so crazy right now)
    2. Keep my hair moisturized
    3. Continue to protective style

Check out my latest post, I tagged you

  3. Hi Sharday,
Did you ever actually tell us your ultimate length goal? Since you're already BSL, your wig challenge should take you to MBL by year's end. Will that be the end or are you going for WL?

Btw, you and Kibbibi finally convinced me to buy a wig for the winter. I'm still working up the nerve to wear it out, but I desperately want to get to APL, so...

  4. I feel you on the shedding!!!

It's been a real problem for me. My shedding was mainly caused by low iron (I have a post on it on my blog 'simplyintomyhair'. I've found that protective styling whilst taking my prescription iron tablets (almost religiously) and taking supplements of l-Lysine, zinc, magnesium, MSM and garlic capsules has helped loads. I also use nutrine garlic conditioner for cowashes and mix Alter Ego hot oil treatment into my deep conditioners. All of these steps seem to be helping so far.

  5. @Age in ATL If I figure how to get a hold on this shedding thing, I will definitely post about it! Good luck on your goals! :)

@Texlaxed&Things I checked out your post! First: congrats girl! Second: Thanks for tagging me! I'll get to answering the questions soon!

@Life in a Shoe You know what? I don't think I've ever mentioned what my ultimate goal is. Right now, my ultimate goal is MBL. I'm considering going to WL though. I guess I'll see how I feel about that once I reach MBL.

Congrats on your first wig purchase!! I definitely understand how you feel about going out with it on. What helped me when I first started wearing wigs was to walk around the house with the wig on, just to get used to how it looked on me. I would also play with the wig and try and style it in the way I would want to. Trust me though, wigging it up is a great way to protective style and it will help you get to APL!

@Simply Into My HAIR It's funny you mention the iron pills. I'm anemic too and that's probably a big reason why I'm shedding so much. I've also heard good things about taking garlic pills so I may have to give that a go too. I want to try the Alter Ego hot oil treatment. Where do you purchase it from?

  6. Hi (",)

I purchased the Alter Ego from Amazon, from a seller based in the US. I am based in the UK so I had to pay about £30 for shipping but at the time I was desperate. Out of the two, I actually prefer the Nutrine over the Alter Ego tho.

    Here's a link:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000T9ZCL4
    It's currently £31.80

Anemia seems to affect so many women. I never had any idea how many, nor had any idea of the effect it has on your hair until my doctor mentioned it and then I put two and two together. The lovely Tola at My Long Hair Journey also confirmed this for me. I am more diligent about taking my iron and now my levels are pretty much back to normal.

I love your blog by the way!
